Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. From personal experience, I see many clients who come in with a strong Pilates background, but lack the foundational movements essential for long-term progress.

Without these foundations, it becomes very difficult to progress safely over time, build lasting strength and lastly, recover or regain the strength you may have had before.

Last but not least important, the Intro Classes allow us to get to know each other, understand your goals clearly, assess how you move and introduce you to the way I work and why I place such a strong emphasis on technical excellence.

This mutual understanding is essential for achieving meaningful and sustainable results.

  • After completing your Intro Classes, we will discuss the most suitable path forward based on:

    • Your goals

    • Your movement needs

    • Your technical foundation

This may include continuing with private classes or transitioning into another option that best supports your long-term progress.

  • My Pilates journey began as a professional dancer, where Pilates was used to prevent injuries, improve alignment, and allow the body to execute movement with precision and efficiency.

From there, I trained in Classical Pilates, worked extensively with physiotherapists, and later incorporated Contemporary Pilates through my work in multiple studios. Since opening my own studio in Buenos Aires in 2007, and with over 20 years of experience, my approach has naturally evolved.

Clinical Pilates, as I practice it, means that:

    • Every class is client-centered, not class-centered

    • Movements are selected based on your body, your goals, and your needs

    • Injury prevention, long-term progress, and technique are always priorities

I work with a wide range of clients, including:

    • Pilates instructors in training who want to understand the Classical Reformer in depth

    • Athletes with performance-based goals

    • Clients with complex conditions such as cancer, brain tumours, severe scoliosis, sports injuries, and more

While I am trained in Clinical Pilates, I do not believe in rigid labels or “one-size-fits-all” methods. Each body requires a different approach, and that approach may change over time.

Some classes may be dynamic and athletic, closer to a contemporary style.

Others may return deeply to Pilates foundations.

What remains constant is that my work is always evidence-based, informed by current research and scientific understanding. I actively stay up to date with the latest studies on movement, breathing, and core connection—yes, I am a bit of a research nerd.

You should not expect a “standard” class.

Each session is built around what I see in your movement, on that specific day, and what your body needs to progress safely and effectively.

  • Semi-private classes are limited to three people and are always adapted to the group.

    Depending on the class:

    • Sometimes all clients perform the same exercises

    • Other times, each person may be working on different movements or variations

Even when it looks like everyone is doing the same exercise, no two clients are actually working the same way.

    Each person may have:

    • Different spring tensions or resistance

    • Different ranges of motion

    • Different goals and priorities

I constantly adjust exercises, loads, and variations based on:

    • Physical condition

    • Experience level

    • Injuries or limitations

    • Individual goals

Some semi-private classes are more dynamic and athletic.

Others are more technical and focused on foundations.

What stays consistent is that each body is treated individually, even within a shared space.

  • The only detail to be aware of is that once or twice a year, usually in July and December, I take a few weeks off to spend time with my family in Buenos Aires and Miami.

This time is not only for family visits. During these periods, I also:

    • Teach workshops

    • Run teacher training programs

    • Prepare and mentor studio staff

Pilates is very much part of my family life—my mother runs a Pilates studio in Buenos Aires, and my sister owns two studios in Miami—so these trips combine family time with professional work.

Outside of these planned breaks, the studio runs regularly and consistently throughout the year. I do not cancel classes, and I do not offer cover instructors.

This is a conscious decision. After everything you’ve read so far, you can probably understand that it is very difficult for me to feel comfortable knowing that someone else could teach your class with the same approach, depth, and attention to detail.

My work is closely tied to my name and professional reputation, and I take that responsibility seriously.

For this reason, I prefer to schedule a clear and planned break rather than compromise the quality of the work.

These breaks usually coincide with school holidays, and they have always worked well for clients. During this time, I provide homework and training guidance for those who wish to continue practicing independently.

  • Yes — what you wear to class matters.

For safety, clarity, and quality of work, we ask all clients to wear fitted, body-hugging clothing that allows the body to be clearly visible.

The more accurately I can see your body, the better I can:

    • Observe alignment

    • Identify compensations

    • Make precise corrections

    • Guide you safely and efficiently

Loose clothing makes it very difficult to read movement patterns and compromises the quality of the work.

    • Pilates grip socks are mandatory.

This studio is highly personal and detail-oriented. Classes are small, and corrections are given individually. Clothing is never about appearance — it is purely about function, safety, and effectiveness.

  • No. This work goes far beyond Pilates as a workout.

I have had the privilege of teaching bodies across an incredibly wide spectrum:

from children as young as seven years old, including future dancers, to clients up to 98 years old, who continue to inspire me deeply.

I’ve learned from Joseph Pilates: “Age is not defined by the number of years you have lived, but by the condition of your spine.”

I have seen teenagers with spines that move like those of a 60- or 70-year-old,

and I have seen people in their seventies with the mobility, strength, and control of a teenager.

My work is about supporting the body in the condition it is in today and helping it develop safely from there, regardless of age.

I work with all age groups, but I have a very special place in my heart for clients over 55. They are often the ones who value this work the most—especially those who may never have had the opportunity to truly connect with their bodies, or those who were very active their entire lives but are now dealing with injuries.

In my classes, many people rediscover the ability to:

    • move without pain

    • continue doing what they love

    • feel strong without forcing the body

That is the core of my work.

    Movement without pain.

    Strength without fear.

    Health as the foundation.

That is what truly inspires me—and that is what these classes are built around.

  • Duet classes are generally by request.

They are most commonly booked by:

    • Friends who choose to train together

    • Couples

    • Parents and children

    • Family members who prefer to share a private hour

Duets are designed for people who want a more personal setting and prefer not to join a larger semi-private group.

  • Yes. A large part of my work is within the physical therapy and movement rehabilitation space, and this is one of the areas I enjoy the most.

Over the years, I have worked with hundreds of clients who needed to move carefully, rebuild strength, or return to activity after injury. In many cases, this work happens in collaboration with physiotherapists or other health professionals.

When a client is referred or is already under the care of a physiotherapist:

    • I respect and follow the rehabilitation plan provided

    • We communicate when necessary to ensure consistency

    • Pilates is used as a complementary tool to support recovery and safe progression

If a client is not formally referred but presents with pain or limitations, we work conservatively and thoughtfully, always prioritising safety and long-term outcomes.

My role is not to replace medical or physiotherapy care, but to support movement, strength, and confidence within appropriate boundaries.

Pilates can be a powerful bridge between rehabilitation and returning to full activity—when it is applied with experience, communication, and respect for the body’s process.

  • The studio is located within a thoughtfully designed private space that is very close to my heart.

Some years ago my husband and I began a knockdown and rebuild project for our family home. From the very beginning, we had a clear vision: to intentionally create a dedicated space where I could have my own Pilates studio, designed entirely around the way I work and teach.

After more than 10 years living in Australia, I felt it was the right time to return to having a studio under my own name, guided by my own standards, values, and technical approach.

The studio is set within a calm, residential environment that reflects the care and intention behind the work that happens inside.

If you don’t see me in the studio, you’ll most likely find me nearby—swimming and enjoying the same community that surrounds this space.

After many years of working in studios around the world, I always dreamed of creating a space filled with natural light and surrounded by the plants I love and care for so deeply. This studio is a dream come true for me, and I’m so happy you are here.

  • The Intro Offer consists of two private Pilates classes with Naz.

    • The first class runs for one hour.
This class includes extra time to talk through:
      - Why you came to Pilates
      - Your personal goals
      - Past or current injuries
      - Your movement history

    • Together, we define clear goals and create a strong foundation for your Pilates practice.

    • The second class runs for 50 minutes, like all regular private classes.
In this class, we continue focusing on:
      - Pilates foundations and foundational movements
      - Pilates technique
      - Alignment, control, and movement quality

    • Based on this class, we then decide together what the best next step is for you.

  • Yes, speaking from first-hand experience, both as a dancer and a Pilates practitioner, I strongly believe that individual guidance can dramatically shorten the time it takes to reach your goals.

There are many people prefer group classes and may not enjoy private sessions—and that is totally valid, but having someone work directly with your body allows:

    • More efficient execution of movements

    • Better alignment

    • Safer progression

    • Reduced risk of injury

If someone had shown me earlier how to execute movements in the most efficient and aligned way, it would have significantly changed my journey and prevented setbacks along the way.

This is a studio focused on:

    • Long-term results

    • Injury prevention

    • Technical excellence

That is why this is Clinical Pilates, not fitness-based Pilates.

Once the technique is right, we have several group classes you can join and work with others.

  • I want to be very honest from the beginning.

I don’t believe in large gym-style classes, fitness trends, press-style workouts, or low-cost mass sessions. I also understand that not everyone enjoys private classes—and that is completely okay.

My goal is not to have the biggest studio or the largest number of clients.

I don’t want you to waste your time or your money, and I don’t want to compromise the quality of the work.

During the first two Intro Classes, we take the time to assess whether:

    • This way of working suits you

    • Private guidance is helpful for your body

    • We are a good match to work together

If private classes are not the right fit long term, the idea is that—once you understand your body, your technique, and your limitations—you may transition into semi-private classes with a maximum of three people per class.

Semi-private classes only work when clients already have a certain level of body awareness and technical understanding. This allows you to move more freely while still receiving close attention and corrections.

If this approach doesn’t resonate with you, that’s absolutely fine.

  • First and foremost, what you are investing in is expertise.

Pilates is very popular right now, and I genuinely love that this is happening. When I started in this industry many years ago, I spent a long time explaining to every new client what Pilates was and why it mattered. Today, most people already know what the Reformer is and have a general understanding of Pilates.

What is less visible is what sits behind the work.

    This studio represents:

    • Over 20 years of experience

    • Continuous investment in education, diplomas, and professional training

    • Thousands of hours working hands-on with bodies

    • Years of refining observation, touch, cueing, and problem-solving

This is not a low-cost studio, and that is intentional.

What is guaranteed is close attention, thoughtful programming, and high-quality guidance.

I care deeply about what I do. I put genuine passion into every single class.

A large part of the value is also hands-on guidance. I have spent years guiding bodies with my hands, refining movement, alignment, and efficiency in a way that simply cannot be replicated in large or generic classes.

I am a perfectionist. I believe we can always improve, progress, and refine—not only in movement, but in how we show up in our bodies and in our lives.

If you are looking for free classes, constant promotions, or fitness-style Pilates, this studio is probably not the right fit.

If you are looking for quality, depth, long-term results, and thoughtful guidance, then this is exactly what you are investing in.

  • If you can’t find a time that works for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

    You have two options:

    • Private classes
Private class availability is easier to manage and can be booked directly online. If you don’t see a suitable time, reach out—we may be able to adjust or find an alternative.

    • Semi-private classes
Semi-private classes vary over time and are usually arranged once I know you and your movement background. For this reason, not all available options may appear online.

In many cases, once we know each other, it is possible to:

    • Add you to an existing class

    • Adjust schedules

    • Or even open a new time slot that works for everyone involved

So please don’t assume that what you see online is the only option.

Send us an email to info@arenapilates.com.au and tell us your availability, and I will do our best to find a solution that works for you.

  • This studio is for all people that want to move better, not just move more.

Age is not a limitation here. What matters is how your body moves, not how old you are. I work with clients across a very wide age range, from young students to older adults, always adapting the work to the condition of the body in front of me.

Pilates at this studio is suitable for:

    • Beginners and experienced clients

    • People returning to movement after injury

    • Clients with chronic pain or specific conditions

    • Active people who want to move without pain

    • Older adults who want to maintain strength, mobility, and independence

    Classes are adapted based on:

    • Your physical condition

    • Your movement capacity

    • Injuries or medical considerations

    • Personal goals

Pilates here is not about forcing the body into a shape or a level.

It is about working with the body you have today and helping it develop safely from there.

If you are looking for fast, generic workouts or high-intensity fitness classes, this studio may not be the right fit.

If you are looking for thoughtful guidance, individual adaptation, and long-term progress—regardless of age—then this studio is designed for you.

  • This depends on your personal history, your current physical condition, and your goals.

    In general:

    • 1–2 times per week works well for clients who already do other forms of exercise such as gym training, swimming, or sports.

    • 2–3 times per week is recommended if Pilates is your main or only form of exercise.

If I am responsible for guiding your physical health, I usually recommend at least 2 sessions per week. This is not arbitrary. Strength, mobility, and postural improvements require consistent and regular stimulus.

For a healthy body, we need to work on strength and movement two to three times per week.

Most of my clients combine Pilates with other physical activities. Pilates supports and enhances those activities rather than replacing them.

That said, some clients simply love Pilates and choose to come more often—and that works too.

The key is consistency, not intensity.

  • All clients begin with private classes. This allows us to get to know each other, understand your movement patterns, and clearly define your goals.

Once you have developed a solid technical foundation and body awareness, we can then discuss the option of moving into semi-private classes.

Semi-private classes are not open-entry. They are arranged intentionally to ensure compatibility between clients and to maintain the quality of the work.

  • No. You do not need to be strong, and you do not need to be pain-free to begin.

Our work always starts by meeting your body where it is.

If you arrive without pain, that’s great—we can move directly into building strength, control, and progression.

If you come in with pain, discomfort, or a history of injury, that is not a reason to stay away. In fact, it is often a reason to book a private class.

Through my professional and personal experience, I have seen hundreds of cases where people:

    • Had ongoing pain

    • Had tried different studios, gyms, or exercise programs

    • Had sports or overuse injuries

    • Felt stuck between wanting to keep training and fearing more pain

In many of those cases, Pilates became the place where they were finally able to pause, reset, and continue moving forward safely.

Classes are adapted based on what your body needs at that moment. The goal is never to push through pain, but to understand it, work around it, and progressively rebuild strength and confidence.

If pain is present, a private session allows us to assess whether and how Pilates can support you.

If Pilates is appropriate for you, we will work toward strength without aggravating symptoms.

Movement should support your life—not limit it.

  • What I can genuinely guarantee is care, attention, and commitment.

If you become a client at Arena, you can expect:

    • A deep understanding of your body and your needs

    • Individual attention in every session

    • My full knowledge, experience, and presence

    • Hands-on guidance when appropriate, to support clarity, alignment, and safety

I don’t offer generic classes or disconnected programming. Each session is guided by what I see in your body, how you move, and what you need on that day.

My work is grounded in experience, observation, and continuous learning—but above all, in care. I am fully invested in helping you move better, feel stronger, and progress without unnecessary pain.

I cannot promise quick fixes or perfection.

What I do promise is that I will:

    • Take your body seriously

    • Work with honesty and integrity

    • Guide you with skill, patience, and respect

Helping people live and move with less pain and more confidence is not just my profession—it is my passion.

That is the commitment I bring to every client who walks into this studio.
